METHODS OF ASSESSING STUDENT PROGRESS:
Students will be assessed by means of Daily work and Independent Practice, and Quizz/Tests. Grades will be weighted by the following:
Daily work and Independent Practice: 40%
Quizz/Tests: 60 %
Daily work: Work assigned in class will occur on a fairly regular basis. You are expected to complete all assignments. Some assignments will be checked randomly for effort and completion. These grades will account for 40% of the course grade. This will be listed as “Classwork” in Skyward.
Independent Practice: Many assignments will be collected and a few randomly selected problems will be graded for accuracy. Anything graded that is not a quiz or test will account for 40% of the course grade. This will be listed as “Classwork” in Skyward.
Quizz/Tests: Mid unit quizzes, end of unit tests, and end of quarter final exams will make up 60% of the course grade. You may retake a quiz or a test, however there will be one re-take offered for end of unit tests. See the re-test procedure below if you need to retake a unit test. These items will be listed as “Tests” in Skyward.
RE - TESTING PROCEDURES:
Test retakes are a privilege and will be made available for those students who have completed all of their daily practice for that chapter, but get below an 86% on a test. Any test retake grade higher than an 86% will be capped as an 86% in the grade book so as not to penalize the students who got an A/B on the original test. In order to re-take the test you will need to:
- Have all assigned homework completed from the unit.
- Make test corrections on a separate sheet of paper (show all work)
- Set up a time to meet with the instructor to go over test corrections and schedule a time outside of class to re-take the test
- Re-Take the test prior to the next Unit’s Test Date
LATE ASSIGNMENTS: All School Policy
Teachers will strive to assign homework and projects with due dates that provide ample time for students to time-manage and successfully complete the work. Students are expected to turn in work on the date it is due. Any work that is not turned in when it is collected on that due date will be marked as a zero and missing in the grade book. Assignments that are received by the end of the school day up to two days after the assigned due date will be scored at 75% of credit earned. Assignments that are received on the third or fourth date after the assigned due date will be scored at 50% of credit earned. Students will receive no credit for assignments received five or more days late. For example, an assignment due Monday would be worth 75% earned credit until the end of the school day Wednesday and 50% the end of the day Friday. Students are encouraged to contact teachers at least one day in advance with requests for extensions or accommodations. It is at the teacher’s discretion of the student need for extension to provide these accommodations.
