MS/HS Principal Email Phone: 608-764-5431 Hello and welcome,
My name is Shannon McDonough and I am excited to join the Deerfield Community School District as the High School and Middle School Principal. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the student body and their families, staff and the greater Deerfield community in this role.
I graduated from McFarland High School, where I enjoyed growing up in the country. I attended Madison College for one year and transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I then attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where I obtained my Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and School Counselor, K-12 licensure. I worked as a School Counselor for eight years before becoming an Associate Principal/Dean of Students. Outside of my full-time career, I have served as a co-president of a non-profit organization called Turn Around Teen, Educational Counseling Services. Through his role, I worked with elementary, middle, high school and young adults supporting them with personal and educational goals, substance abuse recovery, self-esteem management, childhood trauma effects, stress management and desired change and personal understanding.
In my free time I love to camp, fish, accomplish projects at my home, and spend time with my family and friends. If not at work, I always have my sidekicks with me, Lovie and Dollie, my two Boxer pups and my kitty named Fast Eddie!
I am a passionate educator with a philosophy strongly rooted in servant leadership. I am eager to learn everything about the school and community of Deerfield. I am especially excited to meet all the student body and start building meaningful, strong, supportive relationships with each and every student and their families.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. My door is always open! Go Demons!
Ms. McDonough
