I began teaching Social Studies at Deerfield High School in 2023. A Wisconsin native, I graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2022 with a degree in Social Studies Education, and in 2024 I completed my masters program in Curriculum and Instruction. I currently live in Cottage Grove, where I surround myself with history every day. I enjoy evenings cruises on my 1978 motorcycle, listening to rock n roll (on vinyl of course,) refinishing antique furniture, and collecting all sorts of vintage and historical items.
I am glad to be back at Deerfield after previously completing my student teaching here. Growing up in a small town myself, I was immediately drawn to this tight-knit community, and I continue to be in awe of the amount of the support the village continues to provide for our school system.
I teach a variety of courses on a rotating schedule including: Contemporary World Issues, U.S. History, A.P. U.S. History, Sociology, Economics, and History of the Holocaust. I take pride in my ability to simultaneously bring a positive and enthusiastic attitude to the classroom, while also holding students to rigorous academic standards. I also incorporate many primary sources, so students can interact with history by listening to speeches, reading letters, and holding artifacts.
If you have any questions for me related to any of my courses, don't hesitate to reach out via email!
