My name is Ashley Meyer, and I am thrilled to be back at Deerfield Elementary School for my 13th year! I was born and raised in Deerfield, and it is such a nice feeling to be teaching in my own hometown. I live in Sun Prairie with my husband, Erik, and our three children: Owen (8), Bridget (6), and Isaac (2). In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, camping, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
After graduating from DHS in 2004, I attended college at UW-Stevens Point, where I earned my degree in Instrumental and General Music Education. In 2020, I completed my Masters of Education in Professional Development through UW-La Crosse. This program focused on teacher leadership, best practices and pedagogy, curriculum development and assessment, and educational research, and I learned so many great things that I have been able to incorporate into my classroom!
A goal that I have for all of my students is for them to become independent learners and musicians. My teaching philosophy is based on the idea of student-centered learning, which encourages students to be self-reflective and take responsibility for their own performances and growth. My greatest wish for all of my students is that they have a love and appreciation for music that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
