After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I worked for eight years in the insurance industry as a life insurance brokerage specialist. After moving to northern Wisconsin, I realized it was time to reevaluate what I wanted to do with my life. Teaching was the natural (and first) choice. The reasons for this were numerous: both my parents had been teachers; I had always enjoyed learning and the educational environment; I had enjoyed the few times that I volunteered in schools as a classroom assistant, a recreational assistant, and as a classroom speaker/reader.
I enrolled at Mount Senario College where I earned a Bachelor of Education. I am licensed to teach grades 1 through 9 and have a double minor in Language Arts/English and Social Studies. After teaching for several years, I attended Cardinal Stritch University where I earned a Masters Degree in Education/Professional Development.
I have been at Deerfield Middle School since 2000. During my time here, I have taught Social Studies, Language Arts, Math, and character education. I now teach Social Studies and Social-Emotional Learning.
