Make Up Assignments
When a students misses participating in Physical Education class FOR ANY REASON, they will be required to make up the class by completing one of the following make up assignment options. EXTRA-CURRICULAR SPORTS DO NOT COUNT AT ANY GRADE LEVEL FOR MAKE UPS.
1. Attend a DHS/DMS athletic event. Include a written summary including the following information: date and time of game, location, name of teams, score of game, level of game (Varsity, JV, or MS) and complete a description of the game. A signature of a staff member present at the contest is also required.
2. Attend an after school make up session. You must wear PE clothes, arrive on time and complete activity assigned by the teacher. This must be pre-approved by your teacher.
3. Go to E-60 (http://search.espn.go.com/e60/) and view any episode and complete a write up including the following information: what the story was about, what you learned, what challenges the individuals faced, what you liked about it and how it relates to PE, fitness, or sport.
4. Design and present a drill or game that pertains to the current unit using information learned in class. Include a written description of the drill/game a diagram of the drill and the proper techniques used to do the skill.
5. Write a paper describing a non-traditional game not covered in this class. The paper should include the basic playing concept and rules of the game. The basic skills of the game should be detailed and explained.
6. Complete a page on current PE unit safety. Be sure to include 10 safety suggestions and an explanation of the rational behind each.
7. Volunteer to work at a DHS/DMS athletic event. (Help with tickets, supervision, and event set-up or clean up) Staff signature will be required. Working at concessions will NOT be accepted.
8. Volunteer or attend an Active School event. See your PE teacher for upcoming activities/events. Staff signature will be required.
9. Extended absences may be made up with a combination of these assignments or by an individual project (activity journal) approved by your teacher.
10. Students may submit their own make up idea for teacher approval.
