My name is Mrs. Adele Jensen, and I have enjoyed teaching fifth grade in Deerfield since 2001. I am excited about the opportunity to teach fourth grade for the first time this year! I graduated with my bachelor's degree from UW-Whitewater in 2000, and received my master's degree from UW-La Crosse in 2008.
My biggest goal for my students is to help them learn how to respect and get along with others. We start most days with a Morning Meeting, which helps each student feel welcome and practice working together in a positive, structured environment.
The fourth grade curriculum will keep your child busy learning many new things. In math, we will use focus on place value and refining basic computation skills, and also continue working with fractions and geometry. In science, students learn about the human body, Earth's features, sound waves and communication, and energy transfer and electricity. In social studies, fourth grade students will focus on Wisconsin history. We are using the ARC Core program for language arts. Students learn reading, spelling, grammar, and writing skills through whole group and small group lessons.
