Course Description/Overview
7th Grade Computer Science provides a good foundation for students taking future classes in Computer Science. Introductory topic areas that students will be investigating include:
- Basic computer components and how they work
- Using a computer safely
- Macintosh Operating System
- Using a Web Browser
- Understanding how the Internet works
- Safe and efficient Internet searches
- How to use the Internet wisely - cyber-bullying, Facebook, Twitter, email, and copyrights
- Basic presentations with KeyNote
- Basic spreadsheets with Numbers
- Databases
- Basic word processing with Pages
- Music making with GarageBand
- Introduction to Networks and Communcations
- Introduction to Programming
- Introduction to Drawing and Painting Programs
- Working with Digital Multimedia
Please Note: The above information reflects what would be covered if everyone was back at school and thing were back to normal. With the uncertainty surrounding the current pandemic, times and specific curriculum will vary. For example, if we were totally virtual with a normal schedule, the 7th grade computer science class would be focussed primarily on Google Apps as that would be the only thing they would have access to on their Chromebooks.
