LIVESTRONG Deerfield Event a Success!
On Thursday, February 17th, students, staff, coaches, and community members all wore yellow to school and to the boy's basketball game to show their support of the LIVESTRONG event. This event was brought to Deerfield by the Wisconsin Active Schools Grant. Over 80 walkers showed up for the pre-game 1.5 mile moonlight winter walk and were treated to hot chocolate as they made their way through downtown Deerfield. Before and during the basketball game, V.I.P. raffle tickets were sold, and the lucky winners received popcorn and a beverage while watching the game from their V.I.P. seating, which was provided by American. To add a little more excitement, Jesi Haak and the girls basketball program, led a half-time mini-camp for the DCC K-3 grade basketball athletes. In addition, raffle prizes were drawn throughout the night which included LIVESTRONG, hats, gloves, headbands, backpacks, all while the Deerfield Dance team threw LIVESTRONG bracelets into the crowd in between quarters.
In the end, through T-shirt sales and ticket sales, over $1200.00 was raised for LIVESTRONG Foundation.
