School Attendance
We want to remind all of our parents and students about our attendance policy as found in our student handbook. We want to work together to insure that all of our students are in regular school attendance. If a pattern of absences develops, we will contact parents to see what we can do together to have the student present. A student is allowed ten absences for the school year which a parent can excuse for any reason. You should be reminded that for any medical appointment these absences are exempted if you bring a note from the respective doctor. Please contact the school with any questions.
DISTRICT INITIATIVES:
1)Student Achievement 2)Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) 3)Increasing Parental Involvement These are three of our initiatives that we are working on for the school year. Each one has many facets connected to it that we will be working on and reporting to our district.
We have concluded our fall MAP testing for grades 7-10 and we recently completed our WKCE testing for grades 7th, 8th, & 10th. We also talk about GPA (grade point average) along with GTA, (gifts, talents, and abilities.) Deerfield has many students with great skills in one or both of these!
Our PBIS is in full gear and we will continue to work together to acknowledge good choices as well as correcting behaviors. Our emphasis has been respect for Self, Others, Learning, and Environment. If you visit the school you will see signs concerning our SOLE!
We have implemented student-led conferences for this fall and have been impressed with our attendance as we work together for the benefit of our students. We are appreciative of the efforts by our Parent-Teacher Organization to assist us with our school!
