How do I request a transcript?
Complete the request form in the guidance office.
What is the best way for a parent to remain well informed about his/her child's attendance and progress in classes?
Skyward is an online portal where families can look up student information as contained in the Deerfield School District's student information system. There is data for all students, but the information is more extensive for students at the Middle and High Schools. We encourage all parents to register for Skyward by contacting Joanne Bushman
What phone number do I call if my child will be absent from school?
Please call 764-5431 any time and leave a message where it will be addressed promptly. Please let us know if you would like to request homework for that day. See the student handbook for additional information regarding attendance.
Can I e-mail the school office about my child’s absence?
Parents/guardians can e-mail the school office to report their child’s absence. Parents/guardians can also e-mail a teacher directly to get specific homework assignments. We must have a signed excuse from the parent/guardian when the child returns from the absence. We keep this signed record with student records for the year.
What is the impact of appointments on my child’s attendance record?
All students are encouraged to schedule appointments outside the regular school day. Students must bring a note from the appointment to make it an exempted absence. Seniors must be in attendance 90% of their senior year. Please see the attendance in the student handbook for more details.
Where can I pick up homework for my child if I made the request for the absence?
Homework information will be available in the school office before the end of the day (3:30 p.m.). Homework will be labeled with the student’s name.
What if I need assistance with fees?
The Deerfield School District charges fees for several purposes. All district fees will be waived for families who qualify for the federal free/reduced lunch program. Applications for the federal free/reduced lunch program are sent home to all families prior to the start of the school year. Questions about the program can be directed to Doreen Treuden.
What school supplies are needed?
A suggested supplyy list is available on the web site in late summer. If you need a hard copy of the lists sent to you, please call the office.
Where can I make payment to my child’s lunch account?
Please see our district site for this information.
Can my child carry or use a cell phone?
Students may not use cell phones and any other two-way communication devices during the school day or during any school sponsored activities (e.g., parties, field trips, bus transportation to or from school or school activities). Students are expected to keep the cell phone, turned off, in their assigned locker. Please see the student handbook for specifics on consequences.
Where can I learn about activities taking place in school?
Please check out our website for particular events.
What can students wear to school?
Student dress should be appropriate for a working and learning environment, as well as create and promote respect and responsibility. Students are expected and required to wear clothing that is neat, clean, is safe, fits well, is properly worn, and reflects good taste. Please refer to the student handbook for more specific guidelines.
