On Saturday, February 11th, the Deerfield bleachers were filled with the color RED. In an effort to raise money and awareness for the American Heart Association and the #1 Killer of Women, Heart Disease, the Active Schools Project held it's annual winter walk and held a GO RED event. Participants either walked 1.5 miles outside or walked laps inside the high school. Participants were treated to free hot chocolate and were also eligible for door prizes that consisted of RED sports and fitness related items. In addition, money was also raised by those interested in receiving V.I.P. seating during the game.
The Deerfield Active School Project would like to thank the girls basketball team for their support and allowing us to host the event during their game. We would also like to thank the students, parents, and committee members who showed support by walking or wearing RED to the game.
