Class Procedures
q We follow our MISSION and VISION: Working together as a community to prepare all students for success by promoting self-awareness, global awareness, life skills, and problem solving.
q Students at Deerfield have SOLE! Respect for Self, Others, Learning, and Environment.
q Ask for permission to leave the classroom. Sign out and take the pass with you. Be aware that I may ask you to wait until after I have finished teaching or giving instructions. Don’t abuse the privilege or we will have to discuss limiting passes, and nobody wants that.
q If you are not in the room when the bell rings, you are tardy. More than 3 tardies will result in lunch detention. If you have to go to your locker for supplies, it will count as one of your tardies. Be prepared for class!
q No food or drink is allowed in my classroom except see-through plastic water bottles. I will ask you not to bring them into the room if we are doing a lab involving chemicals.
q No cell phones or electronics are allowed. The computers in the room are for school use only.
Materials
Please have a composition book to use as a science notebook. Your lab notebook is your study guide and a record of what you have done in class. You also need a 3-ring binder to keep handouts and worksheets organized (there will be too many to keep in a folder). I have binders for sale at $1 each. You need a scientific or graphing calculator for this class (it must be able to do exponents). I will not allow you to share calculators on quizzes, so make sure you have your own. If you need to check out a calculator for the semester, please see me.
Seating Chart and Lab Groups
I will assign both lab groups and seating charts.
