Welcome to Kindergarten

 

My name is Jane Folbrecht and this is my 23rd year teaching in the Deerfield School District.  I have taught kindergarten 21 of those years.  Prior to teaching in Deefield I taught in the Boscobel School District. 

I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Elementary Education from UW-Platteville.  I presently live in Jefferson WI. with my husband, Bruce.  We have two children, Chris-29 and Kathleen-23.

 

Teaching kindergarten is very exciting to me.  The 5/6 year olds come to school so eager to learn.

As I think about kindergarten each year I remember a poem by Robert Fulghum, "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten"

"All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten.  Share everything.  Play fair.  Don't hit people.  Put things back where you found them.  Clean up your own mess.  Don't take things that aren't yours.  Say you're sorry when you hurt someone.  Wash your hands before you eat.  Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.  Live a balanced life-learn some and think some and draw some and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some."

Sounds like pretty good advice!
